The film concerns the attempts of Fidel to resume a normal life after the devastation wrought by his wife's death. He returns to his old friend Crispin and wife Irene. A tentative effort with another woman fails, and Fidel finds himself in Irene's arms. That same evening a ybung girl is brutally murdered. Fidel, unable to account for his whereabouts, is named the principal suspect, which later leads to his imprisonment. Crispin, meanwhile, learns of Irene's infidelity; his friendship is put to the test when Fidel escapes, gets wounded, and asks Crispin to kill him and put him out of misery.
Four friends, unaware of an impending tragedy, indulge in seemingly endless fun and frolic. Debbie, Nestor's fiancee, is smitten by Boy, Nestor's cousin. Letty, Debbie's friend, is on the other hand in love with Nestor. Boy is the son of the car-shop owner. These relationships are further complicated by jealousy. Due to unavoidable circumstances, Boy is forced to marry Debbie while Nestor weds Letty, though it is only Letty who is genuinely in love. The death of Boy's mother further complicates matters as they shack up in the same house. Debbie has a brief affair with Nestor. Boy's business crumbles and his properties are about to be seized. Desperate, Boy meets an accident but fortunately survives. These tragedies lead Boy to greater desperation, forcing him to take a drastically violent move to end all his problems.
Born into poverty, Addon Labrador, a tugboat worker, is initiated to life's harrowing journey when his genial existence is ruptured by the sudden illness of his mother. Broke and burdened with a huge hospital bill, he reluctantly agrees to participate in a game of death which offers a large sum of money to the victor. Defeating his opponent only earns the ire of Rex, the murderous son of La Paz governor Nenuca Cailles, who, to avenge his loss and humiliation, orders his goons to abduct Addon. With a gun on his head, Addon finds himself as a pawn in the vicious battle for political supremacy between rival groups vying for the governor's office. At one point, Addon is tricked into killing his own father, whom his captors have identified as political traitor and opportunist. Addon is later ordered salvaged but he manages to escape. In retaliation, his mother is ordered killed and his fiancee tortured. Addon fights back, and in a final rampage destroys his enemies in a hair-raising show of fist blows and firepower.
